File Tabs - AutoCAD 2014

Offer drawing tab as a fast and visual way to switch between open drawings

If there is not enough room for all the file tabs to display, an overflow menu at the right end, provides access to the additional files

A lock icon on the tab indicates that the file is open as read-only
An asterisk on the tab indicates that the file has been modified since last save

Hover cursor over the file tab to preview the model and layout

Right-click on file tab enables you to create, open, save, close file

A plus (+) icon on the right of file tab enables you to create a new drawing

Layers Management - AutoCAD 2014

Layers are now displayed by natural ordered sort
1, 4, 25, 6, 2, 10, now sorted as 1, 2, 4, 6, 10, 25

Layer Merge

Multiple layers can be merge into a single layer

Xref Enhancements - AutoCAD 2014

Linetypes are not displayed in the linetype list on the ribbon and Properties palette
Xref layers are still displayed in the ribbon but not in Properties palette

Change attachment type between Attach and Overlay by double-click in the Type column

Reality Capture - AutoCAD 2014

Take a 3D laser scan of an object, topography, building or even an entire town and attach it to an AutoCAD drawing as point cloud data

This point cloud data is stored as thousands, even millions of points in 3D space
You can use it as a real-world reference for your design work

A separate application that enables you to create a point cloud project file *.rcp that references multiple indexed scan files *.rcs

Geographic Location - AutoCAD 2014

Includes the same Coordinate System Library as Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D software and Live Map data tool

When you import geolocated data into a geolocated drawing, AutoCAD transform the data based on the drawing's geographic location

If you render the model, it will have the correct sun angle
If you export the drawing to a map service like Google Earth, it will automatically display at the correct location
